What’s Romantic to You?
What’s Romantic to You???
♥♥♥♥♥
Whether it’s a trip to Paris or hubby taking out the trash, romance is a concept as varied and diverse as the people who experience it, crave it, dream of it and read all about it.
We’re turning our blogging attention to discovering what romance means to you. We’ll share some of our most romantic moments, fantasies and failures. Our sincere hope is you’ll gift us with your tales of your romantic encounters, both real and imagined. We want to have an open forum exchanging our thoughts and feelings on the subject with you.
At the end of the blog, we’ll take bloggers’ votes on whose true life story–or unrequited fantasy–impacted us all the most. The winner will receive an autographed Nicole Foster novel.
Who knows, if the idea is popular enough, it may inspire us to turn it into a new novel…

So, we thought of this blog idea because it seemed like fun! Which, hopefully, it will be. But thinking further and more deeply about it, we realized it’s more than fun. Romance is important, critical really, to our relationships. Without it few relationships survive, at least in a way that’s satisfying. So, contemplating the question in that light, what is romantic to YOU matters a great deal, both to you and to the one you love. Further, we realized our concepts of what’s romantic change with time, with age, with children, with experience, with hurt, with maturity. For example, what was romantic 20 years ago for me probably involved a fair amount of glamor and a sprinkling of drama, i.e., a trip to an island with a suitcase full of new clothes, fruity drinks on a private beach and a midnight swim in a lush, tropical pool. Now, romance at its best means waking up to a smiling face, coffee lovingly brewed in the French press, steaming cups shared while we watch goofy morning doves and arrogant robins bathe in bird baths we built, nestled in the garden we planted. What IS romantic to YOU? Something to ponder indeed…
“Coffee” back in bed after the kids have left for school on Friday mornings. TGIF!
Thanks, Carey! What is it about coffee that’s so intricately linked to romance? Secret trysts at funky coffee shops tucked away in the heart of the city, coffee lovingly brewed in a French press delivered au naturale to a lover’s bed, lingering over coffee after a romantic diner, sipping cowboy coffee while watching the sun rise around a morning campfire, and on and on… Nice thought, hope it becomes a new TGIF tradition for you!
I was walking on the beach in Florida after a really bad breakup and this guy was sitting at a beach cafe. He told me I looked sad and said a coffee with whipped cream and cinnamon would cheer me up. I laughed and thought, what the hell? 23 yrs. and 3 kids later, we’re still sitting across from each other every day drinking coffee, sometimes with whipped cream and cinnamon!
My husband of many years bringing me coffee to bed in the mornings, caring enough to get me a tiny, teacup poodle when he was concerned about having one so little, wanting me to be with him as much as possisble, and asking me to read to him when he was ill. So many wonderful memories!
Not fair, Iris, you’re making me cry. Thanks for the beautiful images; we should all be so lucky in love.
Nice blog, keep it going!
Thanks, Melissa. We intend to do just that.
I love the look of your website. I recently built mine and I was looking for some design ideas and you gave me a few. Can I ask you whether you developed the website by youself?
Yes, we did design it. Good luck with yours!
Great article and right to the point. I am not sure if this is in fact the best place to ask but do you people have any thoughts on where to employ some professional writers? Thanks
We would suggest that you read the Writer’s Market for employment possibilities. Good luck.
Good blogging!
