Welcome to Danette and Annette’s (aka Nicole Foster’s) new site!

(Here’s a little music for you to enjoy while you read…and to get you in the mood for our next book!)

And yes, sigh, Danette and Annette are our real names. We borrowed Nicole and Foster from Annette’s daughter and Danette’s son. They’ve been generous with this arrangement for many years, but we’re not sure they’ll be comfortable with the loan permanently.  We’ll let you know if they give us notice and we have to come up with a new pen name.

Anyhow, for those of you familiar with our books, we’ve been working on something a little different these days. Specifically, we’ve been developing an easy-on-the-brain weblog, not only to let you know about our books,–past, present and future– but that is also a place for readers to share, learn and celebrate the realities that make our fiction possible: love, family, friendship, and food!  We’re still tweaking the site, we have more to add and we’ll be making changes along the way, but it’s up and running.

These are the elements in our lives that give us inspiration to write books that hopefully make you laugh, cry, dream, remember, hope, lust–and sometimes make you hungry.  We decided on the food part of our website while thinking over all that brings our books to life for you and for us.  We realized that food is part and parcel to most family and social gatherings.  And since analyzing and exploring the complex dynamics of couples, families and friendships is one of our main writing obsessions, naturally, where people gather, connect, and commune, there’s often going to be food!  Not only as writers, but as avid cooks and gardeners, this works out really well for us.  Our sincere hope is that it works for you too as a place to visit to relax, read and exchange your feelings, ideas, experiences and recipes with others who share the common bonds of motherhood, marriage, children, family, as well as friendship, dating, divorce, breakups and makeups.  These are the stories we love, the stories we tell because they are the stories that matter most to us.

Speaking of the writing side, we have a few projects in the works, all of which, whether historical romance, contemporary romance or women’s fiction, are stories centered around the joys and sorrows, pains and pleasures we all experience through our loves, families and friendship.

We’re thrilled to tell you our new historical romance  e-book MOONLIGHT WHISPERS is on the final edit!  It has all of the components we just talked about and everything we care about.  And, as a bonus it’s set in the Old West, one of our favorite places to visit and re-visit as often as we can.

Here’s a sneak peak at the new book…!

By Nicole Foster   Moonlight  Whispers…

                             By Nicole Foster

The wild Southwest called to her restless spirit….

Desperate to escape an arranged marriage, orphaned Serena Lark fled into the wild Arizona territory to seek refuge at an old Mormon fort she once called home.  But the safe haven she remembered from her childhood was now a deserted ranch, rumored to be haunted by the ghost of a settler who’d lost his wife and children in a brutal massacre…and who vowed eternal vengeance.

His heart and soul were dead…was he?

He’d thought he was saving the ones he cared most for, but instead he’d let them die.  He could never forget–but he could get even.  Gage Tanner gave everything, including his very existence, to try to right the wrongs he’d allowed to happen.  He never anticipated a woman, alive, demanding, irresistible, would interrupt his plans for vengeance.  Now he had a reason to choose: life or death?

 Excerpt…

And suddenly he froze, staring at her as if he’d never seen her before and Serena forgot to breathe.
He leaned toward her and she met him halfway, her hands on his shoulders, his pulling her close, meeting in a kiss that to Serena felt like everything at once.  Something strong and hard, soft and forgiving, without boundaries or definition.
    And she was lost.

Without breaking their kiss, Gage eased her back until she lay beneath him.  He slid his palms flat against her arms, brushing them up to cover hers, lacing their fingers together.
“I can’t stop thinking about you,” he murmured against her mouth.  Nuzzling her neck, he found himself drowning in her scent, the silk of her skin sliding against his calloused palms.  Blood pounded in his head and he felt like the ground under him had suddenly shifted, bringing him dangerously close to the edge of losing his control.
